The Coco Puff

Cohen has acquired a slew of nicknames since birth. Our favorite or most commonly used is coco puff. Other popular varieties include coco bean, coco crispie, coco cool, co man, coco pants, and coey. We don't know how long it will be allowed to use these we just can't image a teenager wanting to be called coco puff.

Eye Color?

I thought eye color was determined by six months? Maybe this is it. I have true brown eyes and Erik has green eyes although they sometimes look brown depending on what he is wearing. Cohen's are neither. They are darker than Erik's, but not brown. Maybe some variation of hazel? Anyway they could still change I guess

5 years

I can't believe it was five years ago.....

July 31, 2004 Erik and I were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake temple. We have had so much fun and made so many memories in five years: 3 years of basement apartment living, studying for tests, cheap road trips, waitressing, working swing shifts, undergraduate degrees, moving across the country, crazy dog, drug school, pregnancy, and 6 months of parenthood. I am still loving being married to my best friend. I hope we say the same in 50 years :-)

For you Harry Potter fans. Off to the Ministry of Magic!

For our overnighter we went to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg TN. They are very touristy towns at the mouth of the Smokey Mountains. It was sorta a trip to celebrate 5 years of marriage . This year a little baby in tow :-) It was fun we went to the Aquarium of the Smokey's , Ripley's believe it or not museum, and Smokey Mountain National Park. Cohen swam for the first time in the hotel pool! He loved it! It was so cute, but of course forgot bring my camera down to the pool I was so mad. I also forgot to bring it into the aquarium! I wanted to go back and get it but after parking and walking a mile in the heat and humidity Erik wouldn't let me. Cohen loved all the fish. It was neat to see sharks and sting rays and other deep sea creatures up close.

Mini Vacations

So summer is officially over for us. I think it was the shortest summer on record. Erik starts school again on Monday. We did manage to squeeze in a few day trips and one over night trip in between Erik's work and rotation schedule. We went to Chimney Rock in North Carolina. We did a couple of small hikes. Although, with a 20 lb kid on your back in 100% humidity they didn't feel so small... Anyone remember the end of the Last of the Mohicans ? This is were they filmed it. Apparently its the waterfall that the girl jumps off in the end.

July 4

So we were a little lonely on the 4th. Just our little fam grilled hot dogs and went to johnson city fire works. We were missing our usual activities of the Hyrum parade, cruise in, fireworks at Romney Stadium.........

We still had fun though mostly watching to see how Cohen would react to the fireworks. It was way past his bedtime, but he wasn't about to miss them. We were surprised that the loud booming didn't seem to bother him too much.

Baby Accessories

Baby accessories are at least twice maybe three times as much as they should be. For example we went to get Cohen a little jungle gym mat they look like they are worth about 20 bucks we get to babies r us 60 bucks are you kidding me! Cohen's newst toy the exersaucer was almost $90. Thanks goodness for family and gift cards. The list if baby necessities is endless. But the happy face is priceless

Solid Food.....

Cohen hasn't taken as well as we thought to the rice cereal. Our doctor told us to try the rice cereal first once he is mastered that then try oatmeal, veggies, then fruit. I think that he is ready for solids he stares at us when we eat, he sits up, and he opens his mouth for the spoon. When the cereal is actually in his mouth he makes a face and most of it comes back out! Lately we tried mixing it with pear juice and that seems to help he had a couple of good feedings, but I wonder if he is just not a fan of the cereal. I don't know whether he is getting enough down to tell how his body is handling it. If I should keep up with the rice cereal or just move on. Any moms with experience feel free to give advice :)

4 months

Our little Coey's is growing up so fast. He is actually 4 1/2 months old now. At his 4 month baby well checkup he weighed 17 lbs 10 oz. so we guessed pretty close. He is still holding strong in the 90th percentile for weight and head circumference. 25 3/4 inches long in the 75th percentile for height.

He is so much fun. He is really just a big goof. He laughs and squeals mostly at Erik. Daddy can always make him laugh.

He also can sit up! He started sitting up about a month ago! He hasn't rolled over yet. I think he might be too fat.....

Cohen's Blessing

I think Cohen is the biggest baby to ever be blessed! We were lucky to find a little white outfit big enough. At only four months old he is weighing approx 18 pounds. We'll find out for sure at the doctors on Monday....

We waited to bless him so my parents could be there. Erik gave Cohen such a nice blessing and to top it all off Erik and I both were assigned to speak. The meeting went so well we all felt the spirit and feel so blessed to have Cohen in our lives.
