Solid Food.....

Cohen hasn't taken as well as we thought to the rice cereal. Our doctor told us to try the rice cereal first once he is mastered that then try oatmeal, veggies, then fruit. I think that he is ready for solids he stares at us when we eat, he sits up, and he opens his mouth for the spoon. When the cereal is actually in his mouth he makes a face and most of it comes back out! Lately we tried mixing it with pear juice and that seems to help he had a couple of good feedings, but I wonder if he is just not a fan of the cereal. I don't know whether he is getting enough down to tell how his body is handling it. If I should keep up with the rice cereal or just move on. Any moms with experience feel free to give advice :)

Just keep trying! You can also mess with the thickness of it and see if he likes it a little thicker or more runny! It took Ian a good few weeks before he would actually eat any of it! One thing to consider is that if you mix it with something sweet, he'll always need it sweetened! That can be a pain! My doctor said it can take up to 20 times of introducing a food before they like it. Rice cereal constipated Ian so we did Oatmeal cereal. It can be frustrating starting solids, but hang in there! He'll realize it's pretty good! It might just take a little time!

Honestly, babies can handle more than we think. You are his mom and if you think he's ready for more, try it! You know best. Try somethink new and see if he likes it better. If he's capable of cereal, why not pears?

Justin NEVER ate any cereals. I tried so hard. He even hated baby food. I stressed all the time about whether or not he was getting enough. Just remember, it's not worth stressing, they will be just fine. :)
